The Journal of Religious Studies adopts the "Double Blind Referee Practice" in article reviews. For this reason, the name of the author or any information that would reveal the identity of the author should not be included in the footnotes.

All manuscripts are first evaluated by the editor for suitability to the journal. Those that are not suitable are rejected, and those that are deemed suitable are sent to the "field editor" and his/her opinion is consulted about the content evaluation. Articles that are not deemed appropriate by the field editor are rejected, and those deemed appropriate are sent to the "technical team" for technical reviews. The technical team examines the article in terms of compliance with the template and the attribution citation system, and if errors or deficiencies are detected, the article is sent to the author to make the necessary arrangements. If the necessary corrections are not made by the author, the article is rejected.

After the necessary corrections are made, the article is sent to at least two independent expert referees for scientific evaluation.

Studies can be published with the positive decision of at least two referees. If one of the two referees has a negative opinion, the manuscript is sent to a third referee. The article, which has received the approval of at least two referees, is made ready for publication by making the necessary arrangements, unless there is a special situation. After the maximum number of articles of the journal is reached, the evaluation of the remaining articles continues for the next issue.

The editor conducts fair double-blind peer review of manuscripts submitted for publication and ensures that all information about the submitted manuscripts is kept confidential before publication.
