Abstract
Iran, with its underground resources, has attracted the attention of many states since the 20th century and increased the influence of the West on Iran. The developments that have taken place since the discovery of oil in Iran have led to the transformation of this resource into an international trade material. The 1901 concessions granted to William Knox D'Arcy laid the foundation for this process. At this point, the first and most important interlocutor was Britain. The relations that developed with the British in the field of oil affected the fate of Iran. The book that is subject to our review deals with nearly half a century of Iranian oil history (1901-1954) in the light of documents. In this context, it reveals how modern Iranian oil history was shaped and the changes and transformations of the Western oil policy in the Middle East from 1901 to 1954.

Abstract
İran, yeraltı kaynaklarıyla 20. yüzyıldan itibaren birçok devletin ilgisini çekmiş ve Batı'nın İran üzerindeki etkisini artırmıştır. İran’da petrolün gün yüzüne çıkışından itibaren meydana gelen gelişmeler, bu kaynağın uluslararası bir ticaret malzemesine dönüşmesine sebep olmuştur. 1901 yılında William Knox D’Arcy’e verilen imtiyazlar ise bu sürecin temelini atmıştır. Bu noktada, ilk ve en önemli muhatap İngiltere olmuştur. Zira petrol özelinde İngilizlerle gelişen ilişkiler İran’ın kaderini etkilemiştir. İncelememize tâbi olan kitap, İran petrol tarihinin yaklaşık yarım asırlık sürecini (1901-1954) belgeler ışığında ele almaktadır. Bu minvalde modern İran petrol tarihinin nasıl şekillendiğini, 1901’den 1954’e kadarki süreçte Batılıların Ortadoğu petrol siyasetinin değişim ve dönüşümünü ortaya koyar.
