Abstract
Mehmet Aktaş’ın 2021 yılında neşredilen Tanım veya Hakikat: Cüveynî’nin Kelâm Sisteminin Analizi başlıklı çalışması, Cüveynî’nin (ö. 478/1085) eserlerinden hareketle, hâlleri kabul eden Eş‘arî kelâmcıların savunduğu kelâmî tanım anlayışını ortaya koymaktadır. Aktaş, kelâmî tanım anlayışının, felsefî tümellerden farklı bir yapıya sahip kelâmî tümel modeli olan hâllerle oluşturulduğunu, cevher-araz katmanında realizm, nesneler katmanında ise nominalizm iddialarını barındırdığını ve bu anlayışa sahip Cüveynî’nin yarı/kısmî özcü şeklinde nitelendirilmesi gerektiğini öne sürmektedir. Aktaş’ın çalışması, Aristotelesçi tanım teorisine alternatif bir teori olan kelâmî tanım teorisini açığa çıkarması ve bu teorinin niçin öne sürüldüğüne cevap vermesi bakımından mantık felsefesi çalışmaları için yeni bir alana işaret etmektedir.
Abstract
Mehmet Aktaş's study Definition or Reality: An Analysis of al-Juwaynī's Theological System, which was published in 2021, reveals the conception of theological definition advocated by Ashari theologians who accepted states (ahwâl), based on al-Juwaynī's (d. 478/1085) works. Aktaş argues that the theological conception of definition is formed by states, which is a theological universal model with a different structure from philosophical universals, and that it contains the claims of realism in the jawhar-a‘râd layer and nominalism in the objects layer, and that al-Juwaynī with this conception should be characterised as a semi-/partial realist. Aktaş's study points to a new field for the study of the philosophy of logic in terms of revealing the theological theory of definition, which is an alternative theory to the Aristotelian theory of definition, and answering why this theory was put forward.
